Early Wooden German Toy
This early pull-string toy is in the form of a road runner. His tail and side wings have chip carved decoration, along with the wooden base which has chip-carved circle decoration. His tail and neck go up and down when the string is pulled. He has a long neck with a crown, a long beak, and painted eyes. German-made. Late 19th to early 20th c. Measuring 4 1/2" by 2" on the base. The extension of the bird, when the string is pulled, is up to 7" in length.
Note: I have had many of these German pull-string toys, but never have I seen a roadrunner!
