This is a wonderful, early example of a country Queen Anne fiddle back side chair. It has a simple, yet elegant, curved crest with a lovely pronounced fiddle-back, on boldly turned posts that end in straight legs. The single front stretcher and the front legs also have beautiful bold rurnings , with the legs ending in thick pad feet. The rush seat is quite early, but probably not original. New York State, probably Hudson River Valley. origin. Ca. 1750-1790. Measuring 39" tall with a seat height of 16-3/4". Maple and chestnut. (seat worn, but still usable). A beautiful and early country side chair! For a somewhat similar example see
