This early 19th C. architectural advertising sign was once part of an entire grouping that would run the perimeter of the inside of a dry goods store.  Each section would say something different.  The glass inserts are reverse painted on glass, with gold and black lettering, salmon shadowing on a cream colored ground.  Each glass panel was encased into a thick mahogany backboard with a heavy applied mahogany crown molding.  A terrific piece of early signage!  Measuring 58-1/2" in length by 10-1/2" tall.  The back board is approximately 1" thick.   One small section of the crown molding has been repaired, but appears to have been done after removal and they used a piece of crown from the same interior.  Also, there is some paint loss, primarily to the cream colored background.  And there is one crack in the glass.  Overall it is still in very good condition considering its age.  Canadian origin.
