This beautiful New York dome-top box retains its original, exquisitly paint decorated surface. The vinigar paint decoration was done on three sides and the top, with the back having a solid base coat only. The box is dovetailed and in fine condition with what appear to be early replaced hinges. The lock is original, although the hasp is missing. It appears that at one time someone added nailed leather hinges for additional support. But those has since been discarded. Ca. 1845. Measuring 34"W by 18"D by 14-1/2"T.
