19th C. ​Miniature Baleen Ditty Box

​This fine little three-fingered ditty box is made entirely out of baleen, a material found in the mouths of whales.  It is artistically done with carved designs on both the lid and sides and finely carved wrapped fingers. Either sailor-made or native American made.  Measuring just 3 5/8" wide by 3 1/2" deep by 1 1/8" tall.  A fine little gem!
