Fantastic and unique Folk Art trade sign, Ca. 1870-1880, believed to have been used for either a jockey club, saddlery, racing stable or possibly a hitching post manufacturer.  This magnificent trade sign is hand-carved from a single slab of southern pine, featuring a jockey with riding crop in hand resting against a Victorian horse head hitching post.  It has early forged iron bars attached on the back for secure hanging.  The painted surface appears to be original, but well weathered from years in the outside elements. Recently discovered in the attic of a barn in middle Kentucky.   Measuring approximately 54" tall by 27" wide by 4" deep at its largest points.

A stellar piece of folk art!
